Whether i am a minority and whether i am a majority does not make any difference.
If you want legal speak then ...
Giving GC to STEM graduates is not the right way. If US needs to keep these educated people in US then US needs to make sure these educated people get an H1B without any issues and then they are on the path to GC like everyone else because H1B is a dual intenet visa. Jumping from a F1 visa to a GC visa is not correct as F1 visa is not a immigration intenet visa
If you want plain speak then ...
Why should STEM graduates have it easy when a H1B has to struggle and wait in liner to get a GC.
I would agree to this only is the requirement is made so that only PHD and scientist who have atleats acouple of research papers published be given GC and not every Tom, Dick and harry who completes 4 years engg degree in india from a 2 bit university and whose parents have money and uses this money to pay for 2 years MS.
People who are going to benefit by this will support this. Others oppose.
I believe you belong to latter.
One thing to remember is this provision helps STEM grads irrespective of their EB-class.
legal speak: right now law does exist. F1 to GC would be illegal. This provision is to make the conversion legal
plain speak: look beyond your own situation. Since you are not going to benefit directly, does not mean you stand against it.
Lastly, everybody's parents don't have so much money like you think. People do get 13% student loans in India to fund their studies.

Please edit your first post on the thread to include my post and update your post to start this action item. We do not have much time and need to move fast. USCIS took 4 months to reply to the letter and gave us only 1 month to reply. We have already lost a few days.

Anybody please comment. I have done some hard work here. Do you like the idea ? should we go for it ?
Hi bsbawa10,
You have put some good effort here and I think the posters make a point. But like you said, we need a substantial letter to accompany these.
We might need to take a bit of time to re-organize and pull this effort together. The Oct. VB news has been quite a damper - I came very close to not logging into IV today - I needed some time away from all this to collect my thoughts. It is likely that several people are doing the same.
IV core, in addition to the letters and calls to Congress persons to support HR5882, what else can we do? Several small efforts will likely not cut it for us. We need to pull our efforts together towards one single powerful protest. Any ideas from our advisors?

ur employer treats u like shit, people here don't want u here, government don't want to listen to u. disgusting. why do u even exist?
Wonder why your database is still under construction? Not enough skilled people around to do the so called construction? Maybe temporary workers?
http://zazona.com/LCA-Data/DataMaintenance.htm
The same logic applies to every business in the US that is trying to rely on temporary workers to meet the demands of a global economy.
Stop the following - this is my country, that is your country, this is our job, that is your job. Think of a global economy.

I believe there are more than one admin here, why dont one of you take couple of minutes atleast for the sake of putting a stop to this false accusations. Why dont you track our IP address for the past 1-2 days. You know we have been posting simultaneously, why do you please take a step to find out if these messages are coming from the same machine or even same vicinity. Please do this for our sake. Hey UN
Are you aware of State Deptt URLs that explain current immigration rules (similar to IRS rules) as following.
Someone posted a URL that requires a good choice of search words. Such a process may not get all info specially for a novice like me. Thanks.
From the November 2005 visa bulletin
http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/bulletin/bulletin_2712.html
HOW IS THE EMPLOYMENT-BASED PER-COUNTRY LIMIT CALCULATED?
Section 201 of the INA sets an annual minimum Family-sponsored preference limit of 226,000, while the worldwide annual level for Employment-based preference immigrants is at least 140,000. Section 202 sets the per-country limit for preference immigrants at 7% of the total annual Family-sponsored and Employment-based preference limits, i.e. a minimum of 25,620.
The annual per-country limitation of 7% is a cap, meaning visa issuances to any single country may not exceed this figure. This limitation is not a quota to which any particular country is entitled, however. The per-country limitation serves to avoid monopolization of virtually all the visa numbers by applicants from only a few countries.
The AC21 removed the per-country limit in any calendar quarter in which overall applicant demand for Employment-based visa numbers is less than the total of such numbers available.
In recent years, the application of the rules outlined in AC21 has allowed countries such as China mainland born, India, and the Philippines to utilize large amounts of employment numbers which would have otherwise gone unused.
During FY due to anticipated heavy demand, the AC21 provisions are not expected to apply, and the amount of Employment numbers available to any single country will be subject to the 7% cap. It is anticipated that the addition of unused FY-2005 Family numbers and the remaining AC21 numbers to the 140,000 annual minimum will result in an FY-2006 annual Employment limit of 152,000. This will mean an Employment per-country limit for FY-2006 of approximately 10,650.
To illustrate the effect of the reduced per-county limitation during FY-2006 on the oversubscribed countries, it should be noted that during FY-2005 India used approximately 47,175 Employment numbers.

As some folks have posted on another thread, the USCIS is finally getting around to consolidating all their applications in a single database.
Maybe our letters and posters didn't fall on deaf ears after all! ;)
I hope so, we just have to wait to see when that will come into effect, perm took more than a couple of years to come into effect and what happened after??.. all the pending applications at that time was pushed to the BEC black hole...

I have only a few things to say to Mr. Sherman.
Do whatever the F**K you want to stop us immigrants. You can't.
Nobody was able to stop your Grandpa from hopping aboard the Mayflower and landing in Ellis island and making a good life for himself. He had the might. He did it. So will we. However, I will do one thing more than that. I will teach my grand kids to respect people, no matter who they are and where they are from.
I am going to immigrate. I am going to work hard. I am going to prosper. I will bring good life to my family. I will bring value to this society and this country. I will start companies and provide my brother americans with jobs. I will help make America better.
You only make me stronger.
I could say here that people like you make our lives difficult. But that would be wrong. I have quite a few Second generation Italian friends here in florida and they are simply gems. They are among the reason I always wanted to come to this country. So you are alone in your ridicule/negative motivation. As much as you want to make us feel, we are aware that you do not represent the majority sentiment in this great country.
- Go IV!!

This constant pestering about filling up our profiles totally pisses me off. What exactly is the idea? That a person who is not waiting for a GC can't post in these forums? What if you are not even interested in GC? Or what if you are already a US citizen? Or may be just somebody happily living in Timbuctoo, and visiting these forums just for social networking? Is this site out of bound for them?
Give me a break guys.
