Thanks. Fortunately I have my I-485 approved more than a year ago and it was adjudicated and approved in one go.
The review of the cases progresses as per RD in pre-adjudication
Your profile (above) says that you are at I-485 stage, so I thought you are waiting for approval.

Good question. I was wondering that too. Though I have taken an appointment for Monday 8/24.
Have a weird feeling, all 2004 will be cleared this time. We deserve it the most in EB2 and its been so unjustful for us.

Only 9% away from my first $500 contribution as part of the pledge..... this forum is so slow.... I thought that by today noon I have to shell out $500...but doesn't looks the case...
Oh I forgot ! This forum is used to slow processing ...let it be GC or Contribution..... doesn't surprises me..... Our fraternity is used to slow things just like GC .... come guys /gals ..... show some speed....
Finally i think we may reach 50%.... I swear as soon as somebody confirms me that we have reached $29,500 figure I will put $500 and another $500 when we reach $59,500.....
Keep it going guys ... I am bit positive for the halfway mark..... but don't think that the full way mark Miracle will happen.....

Yes, they go by the receipt date, which appears on your USCIS online status - they are suppose to go by the date delivered to mail room / receipt date printed on your 797
The Receipt date is the date when they actually receive our case in a Service Center. Notice date is when it got entered into the system. I-485 Notice shows both the RD and ND. RD should be August 17 for most of us, whose cases were transferred to various Service Centers. Online status shows the ND. The only confusion here is what do they go by(may be USCIS it self not sure how to prioritize - whether on ND or RD).
Strictly speaking, if they go by ND and if the ND is after Aug-17 we may not be eligible for GC, as our(July/Aug 07 batch) cut-off dates is august-17-2007. This is what I was told by DAO when I attended the interview at the local USCIS office.

I applied for my 2nd visa extension (1-year extension) after completion of 6 years in the middle of March 2007 (before I-94 expiry). My I-94 expired in the middle of March. I didn't hear from USCIS until the middle of July when they sent a huge list of request for evidence regarding my case (although I've been working on the same company's H1s for last many years now).
Meanwhile, I applied for adjustment of status on July 2nd as a beneficiary on my wife's application. If my H-1B gets rejected after sending the request for evidence for some reason now will I be out of status? Since my 180 days from my last valid I-94 will expire in the middle of September, is it a good idea to go on H4 before the middle of September and reenter the country?
In worst case, what will be my status if USCIS gets back to me, say in October, and says my H-1B extension application has been rejected?
Any input from UN or other gurus is appreciated.
Since you're a beneficiary of you're wife's AOS, you're in "pending status of authorized stay". Therefore you *are* authorized to stay here as of that day until a decision on the 485 is made (the unlawful stay clock stops ticking). If you get rejected on your H1 extension, you can still stay in the country and possibly work on the EAD (a derivative benefit of the 485). If you think your wife's 485 is airtight, and there's a problem later you can use the 245(k) provision since you were in unlawful stay for less than 180 days.

Can you publish more stories.... Thanks
I am posting this story sent by a person literally wasting her skills away as an H4 visa holder. I am sure lots of IV members and their spouses can relate to this.....
All those who are suffering like this please consider contributing to IV and we request members to join in doing action alerts, Letters to Editors and participate in forums
Here it goes
I have about 7 years of experience as a project manager in Environmental Engg and a BS from a very reputed school but my visa status doesnt permit me to work. Recently, I had to let go of a wonderful job offer because I didnt have EAD and was not even eligible to apply for H1 work permit, having used up 6 years of H status (the employer was ready to sponsor). That leaves me no option but wait for backlog to be cleared or Plan B- move back home. With retrogression, it would take atleast two more years to get my EAD. That would take away 8 years of my productive time in life. All these 6 years, I have volunteered in different non-profit organisations by developing and maintaining their websites. I am also volunteering in my son's school. We have been paying our taxes, donating to Firemen, Policemen etc. It is frustrating that we are giving to the community and not getting basic work permit in return.
How US will benefit if you remain here (competitiveness angle) -
I have a subtantial work experience and energy which I can put to use if I get to work and contribute to the US economy. Currently all my skills are wasted while the job position I could not fill due to immigration issues remains open for last 5 months.

BTW, our dear macacay.
I am surprised to see that you don't know what ROW is.....
P.S.
I apologize for this utterly useless posting, but I really wanted to use the word 'macacay', the sub-continentalized version of 'macaca'
Is there a USCIS URL/publication that explains the following? Thanks.
These should be USCIS rules like IRS rules. Everyone should be entitled to see them like IRS rules.

Wooo... wah ...wah.. wah .. great Sherman... Is this what you mean ??
You dont care about Jobs being internationally outsourced but you do care about a guy sitting next to you and delivering better output than you... That means you fear competition OR you dont like a guy sitting next to you because he is a Macaca... ??
What ever option you choose it defeats America !! And still want to call yourself patriotic American ? America is the land of best and brightest - its the competition and drive which keeps a free,Capitalist society alive...
By the way you still didn't provide me the source how 75% folks are having under-grad degree and what % of that is in S/T/Engg/Math ....
Dont hesitate to respond - we all know the answer. Just want to hear from you.
Jobs in America is for Americans. If at all it gets outsourced to your country then it is yours. But as long as that job is in my country, I will defend it and not let some Strive or Skill act take it away from me.

No, we want ALL pregnant women every where to come to US to give birth so we can get to pay for there care.
There are concepts like decency , humanity and compassion which shouldn't be put aside just because someone is in the country illegally. Shackling a woman to a bed while she is giving birth is a inhumane and barbaric.
If you had bothered to read the story, you would have known that even convicted felons are not shackled while delivering. I guess it is worse to be an illegal immigrant in police detention than a convicted murdered in state penitentiary.

Pappu, you make more sense. Let me know how i can help you. ( no accusing bud ). Its your fellow admin who is turning into a comedian.
Please contact your state chapter to help. If you chapter is inactive, please help lead it. Get more people involved. This will be the best help you can offer. If you want to help with customer service email me at info at immigrationvoice.org your details.
And please stop calling admin a comedian. We take this effort very very seriously. This is not a joke. You can afford to write whatever you want anonymously. But we do not. We are replying to your post in detail past midnight and taking care of other IV work at this time knowing fully well that I have to get up very early tomorrow for a busy day.
Sometimes when I see such posts accusing IV for all kinds of reasons, I sometimes think why we are doing this work?
Good night.

I see so many posts about people correcting names in passports. Just wondering once you change your name in passport, doesnt it get inconsistent with the name in visa and other US documents ? Did anyone get US documents corrected based on name change in passport ? I believe once you make correction in passport, to make any changes to name in visa or US documents you need a US court order for name change otherwise there will be problems in H1/ EAD/ AP extensions. Anyone with experience please advice.
