I will call the senators immigration liaison tomorrow. Hopefully she will not tell me that they cannot do anything besides what they have done because that is what they told me in September last year when I got a standard response last year.
Unfortunately nobody understands the pain and agony we are going through. For them, its just another day at the office, they couldnt care less. Nevertheless, I am going to try tomorrow.....hey, cant give up that easy.
I will call CS again tomorrow, I dont mind being yelled at and I am gonna tell her this time that I have not opened a SR. Atleast, she will then transfer my call to a IO.
Let's see what tomorrow has in store for me!!

Do not tear the GC, instead if you ever receive it and decide going back to India, frame it. One may never in his or her lifetime wait for an entity so much desperately as we all have for the GC.
WillWin, I do not agree that India is not moving forward. Infact people in India are raking money. We should not blame politicians or anyone for the state we are in. No one forced us to leave India. Defending our decision to leave India and come here by calling us "smart" is demeaning to our friends back home. Does it mean that they were not "smart" and hence stayed back? If at all, I would say they were the smartest and are reaping the benefits today.

There is a difference between H1B Visa/AP and I797/EAD.
The first one is a travel document. That is all it is good for.
The second one is for employability proof. That is all this one is good for.
Each one has some restrictions. As long as you are not violating any of the provisions under which you were issued a visa/AP/I797/EAD, they will be good.
So... if you are working on a H1 (I797), going out of the country and returning by using AP will not make you lose your H1 as long as you continue to work full time for the sponsoring company.
As far as the company is concerned, your work eligibility status is based on what you provide to them when you fill out the I9 form.

A lot of people, including me have lost faith in IV. They are not going to pay. We don't know what IV is working on
I believe the core group has made efforts to let us know what they are working on. Obviously, we shouldn't expect them to give us a daily update. That would be quite stupid.

Their goal is 70K for this quarter. And they hope to raise that money in one week. After this week, they will again ask for funding in the next quarter.
Obviously they have a HUGE membership compared to IV. But that just underscores the need for increasing membership.

Do you know if labor substitution for future employment is possible.
I am working with company A and company B have labor approved with 2003 priority date. I want to work with company A till my I-140 labor substitution application (from employer B) is approved by uscis.

When employees post for job, they might say �need a citizen or gc holder�. But never say we only need a H1-B holder. So when we have respected and followed the rules of this country immigration becomes a right as logic life suggested.

These types of employment advertisements are discriminatory and are thus illegal unless it is work that requires security clearance. I am surprised that the Department of Justice is going after employers (http://www.immigration.com/newsletter1/doj_investigation.html) who may have advertised jobs for non citizens while not going after the numerous advertisements that discriminate against non US citizens. I am aware of atleast one high profile company that engages in this type of activity in its advertisements (however one needs to apply and be rejected in order to file a complaint). The double standard is indeed disturbing :

This is even if you tell them they will be stuck with the same employer and job profile for years, and no hope of a GC for the next 7 years. The lure of the US is still big. This might come as a surprise to some of you, but someone needs to say it out loud. GET A LIFE FOLKS!!!! there is more to life then EB, GC and all. it seem all we desi's can think of is how to get a green card so we can live here with peace and never have to worry bout getting laid off or anything.
Few points:
1) having gc is a privilege not a right.
2) US has every right to choose whom they want to have in their country.
3) If getting PR or citizenship of a western country is the goal there are many countries which have a fair point based system.
4) Considering the number of fraud's committed by Indian body shoppers and people who use them, i am not surprised USCIS is extra careful when it comes to Indian applications. Anyone who got his wife with no exp with software dev an h1b visa from some cheat in Jersey knows what i am talking bout . My freind got his wife an H1 after showing she knew software testing even though her major was fine arts and all she was good at was web surfing :)
5) have a back up. i came here in 2001 as student and have seen it all. I am on h1b since 2004. i knew we have too many people whose sole aim in life is a American GC. to avoid becoming one of those who check processing dates first thing in morning, i applied for Canadian PR, got it in 8 months and i am not even gonna bother applying for labor, i-140 and all those precious life controlling documents.
Wake up friends, you have options. Don't let your life depend on you application status.
